“The Greatest Rock And Roll Band You Never Heard Of” Book Tour with Marcus Mason & Hit The Ground Runnin’

Meet Marcus Mason, Toronto-based author of the non-fiction biography book about the seemingly unknown tale of Delco-based rock band, Hit the Ground Runnin’, on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

“The Greatest Rock And Roll Band You Never Heard Of” tells the one-of-a-kind story of the band who, in Dick Clark’s words, would be “The next big thing.”

From performing regularly on “Dance Party USA,” to losing a major management deal to a flip of a coin to Warrant, to writing songs for “Rocky V” and “Backdraft,” and being turned down by every major record company, embraking on a national tour of Canada, and becaming stuck between elite management and a payola scandal, there is quite the story to tell.

Fitting of the book title “The Greatest Rock And Roll Band You Never Heard Of”, Hit the Ground Runnin’ has played alongside some of the greatest acts in the hard rock genre including the likes of Britny Fox, Cinderella, Tangier, Blue Oyster Cult, Aldo Nova, and Blue Murder, and yet no one has ever heard of them!

With their original CD selling for over $1,900 a copy, the band has earned quite the cult status within the Hard Rock scene and has ever since been waiting for their first national debut out of the underground world where they have remained for so many years.

Come out to hear their story and meet members from the original band; Paul Piccari, Jimmy Katone, and Alan Augunas!

In addition to copies of the book, CDs and a special vinyl copy of their first 45 will be available for purchase.

Low Cut Connie Album Release Party with Adam Weiner

We’re kicking off our 10th anniversary week on Tuesday, August 22nd at 6 p.m. with a Low Cut Connie “Art Dealers” Album Release Party with a special appearance by Adam Weiner.

Pre-order the new record, their seventh studio album, and hear some of the latest album tracks! There’s no need to register. The first 50 people to arrive will receive a wristband for entrance.

Based out of Philadelphia, Low Cut Connie has become the alter ego for frontman, pianist, and songwriter Adam Weiner. Beginning as an impromptu recording session in 2010, Low Cut Connie gradually evolved into a vehicle for Weiner’s songwriting and his onstage persona. The band has earned praise for its high-energy live performances from The Philadelphia Inquirer, WXPN, Los Angeles Weekly, and NPR Music to name a few.

Low Cut Connie has also gained notoriety for attracting high-profile endorsements such as a surprise inclusion on Barack Obama’s Spotify Summer Playlist in 2015, and a personal association with Elton John, who has called the band one of his favorites.

The band recently performed at WMMR’s MMRBQ, Downstage @ the Mann with Chill Moody, a concert which explored the intersection of hip-hop, rock, and visual art, and they’re on the Sunday lineup of the XPoNential Music Festival in September.

2021 In Review

Another year has passed and again we’ve had to deal with planning and attending events around the never-ending coronavirus pandemic. Although we joyously headed back out to concerts, movies, and sporting events this spring and summer, we operated with limited hours until June and there wasn’t a Record Store Day in April. Thank goodness we had many notable new releases to get us through it all! Here’s how the year played out:

As part of Delco Arts’ Spring Fling in May, we hosted an event with author and painter, George H. Rothacker. Paintings and prints of his Rock Legends were available for sale and we presented a slide show of the paintings on the big screen throughout the day.  George was on-site to sign his memoir, “The Diverse Artistic Universe of George H. Rothacker: A Memoir with Pictures,” too.

We went back to regular hours in June, started staying open late once a month for evening shopping, and we resumed our Band Fan Nights with music and videos by Santana and Jimi Hendrix. We held the first of two RSD Drops but without live music, food, or drinks.

July featured the second RSD Drops event and a Band Fan Night featuring The Doors in honor of the 50th anniversary of Jim Morrison’s passing.

We celebrated the Stones at our August Band Fan Night and sadly lost Charlie about a week later.

Our September Band Fan Night featured The Faces, Humble Pie, Robin Trower, and Ten Years After and we hosted a FirstGlance Film Festival Preview Party and ticket giveaway.

For Delco Arts Week in October, we hosted a special a screening of Shawn Swords’ documentary, “Charlie Gracie Fabulous.” Charlie joined us for the event so we surprised him with an award for his contributions to the arts and music in Delaware County. We also participated in Kids Music Day, hosting a music-themed craft for kids.

Record Store Day Black Friday took place in November without a hitch and we held Pop-Up Shops for Finding Shelter and Animal Friends of Lansdowne, fundraisers for the two animal rescues on Small Business Saturday.

As 2021 comes to a close, we’re thankful that we were able to stay open and present at least a reduced number of special events under the circumstances. We’re hanging in there with the help of great music and hope you are too!  Thanks for shopping with us!

“Charlie Gracie Fabulous” Film Screening

Join us on Sunday, October 3, 2021 for a special Delco Arts Week event taking place during Lansdowne’s Arts on the Avenue Festival!

Vinyl Revival and director Shawn Swords will host a special presentation of Swords’ documentary, “Charlie Gracie Fabulous” at 2 p.m. with a guest appearance by Charlie Gracie!

“Charlie Gracie Fabulous” chronicles the life and career of Rock and Roll Pioneer, Charlie Gracie. His #1 hit “Butterfly” knocked Elvis from the top of the charts in 1957 and sold over three million copies worldwide. He was the first artist on the Cameo-Parkway Record Label to have hits, bankrolling the company, thus enabling it to launch the careers of a dozen successful artists. He was the first solo American rock and roll star to bring the music to the British concert stage. Paul McCartney, Van Morrison, Graham Nash, and Ray Davies are among his biggest musical admirers. The late George Harrison called his guitar technique “brilliant.” He continues to be a great ambassador for rock and roll, performing the roots of rock and roll all over the world.

This is a FREE event but tickets are limited! To reserve your space, please RSVP at info@vinylrevivalrecords.com.

Due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases, we recommend that attendees wear masks at the event.
