DESCRIPTION:Meet and greet folksinger\, songwriter\, and bandleader Eli Waltz at Vinyl Revival on Friday\, September 20th at 3:30 p.m.! \nWaltz will perform at Harmonie Hall in Philadelphia with Zach Zaitlin to celebrate the release of his new solo album\, “October Julep” on Thursday\, September 19th.  He pays a visit to Lansdowne the next day to meet fans.  He’ll have copies of his new album\, and we’ll give it a listen! \nEli Waltz is a traveler and American folk artist who focuses the sum of his experiences on the road into a sound reminiscent of a different time. His music draws from the musical traditions of American Blues\, Folk\, “rock ‘n’ roll” and Chinese guqin music; his lyrics are inspired by the poets of the Beat Generation. \nHe is heralded for his philosophical lyricism\, unconventional chord progressions and hard-hitting harmonica solos. He weaves in traditional Chinese music–inspired by months and years living in Beijing and Yunnan as a working musician–and even classical music to create a signature folk sound. \nHe has earned comparisons to musicians ranging from Ray Lamontagne to Colter Wall to Gregory Alan Isakov\, and he aims to build upon and honor the legacies of his all-time favorites: Townes Van Zandt\, John Lee Hooker\, John Fahey and Bob Dylan. \nWaltz has shared the stage with nationally-recognized artists including Willie Carlise\, Andrew Combs and Rett Madison and his music has received praise from Sir Paul McCartney among other musical heroes. \nHe is part of a new wave of up-and-coming American Blues and Folk artists. \nCheck out his Spotify page.

Michael Harrison in 1996\, is his award-winning radio show – “a blend of jazz that takes you from the mainstream to the edge of the art.” \nThis evening of reflections and recollections will feature a conversation with the acclaimed saxophonist\, composer\, educator\, curator\, and entrepreneur Greg Osby\, which will revisit his influential 1993 release 3-D Lifestyles. The event will also feature a special performance by the extraordinary tandem of Bethlehem and Sad Patrick and include a fun filled musical journey through 30 signature jazz and hip-hop album releases marking 1993 as a memorable and pivotal year in music. \nJ. Michael Harrison began his radio career in 1993 WPEB’s “Is That Jazz” radio show. In 1994 he began volunteering with WRTI as a production assistant. In 1996\, J. During those early years spent in record shops and the late ‘60s\, authors Ralph Sutherland and Harold Sherrick met the enigma known only as Pigman. When the first modern era bootleg album Great White Wonder surfaced in Los Angeles in 1969\, Ralph and Harold were surprised and pleased to learn that Pigman was the one who had brought it to the world. As the music business was turned upside down by the bootleg record phenomenon\, Ralph and Harold\, as confidants and consultants to Pigman\, watched in awe the audacity of Pigman and his underground record label\, Trade Mark of Quality. In 1976\, Pigman disappeared into self-imposed exile as the copyright laws of the United States caught up with him. \n“A Pig’s Tale” is not just the story of bootleg records and Trade Mark of Quality\, but of Pigman and his triumphs and struggles as he weaved his way through the insane maze of the record biz. For this book\, Ralph and Harold reconnected with Pigman to gain exclusive insider access to Pigman’s recollections and—for the first time—to the unseen rare TMQ archives\, which until now had been safely hidden away from the world in Pigman’s secret lair.
