2016 in Review

We had a great 2016 thanks to you, our customers!

Here’s a look back at some of last year’s events. We had a great time at our live shows, indie film screenings, book signings, Record Store Day events, and more.  We look forward to offering a wider variety of new and vintage vinyl and programming more unique events that you can enjoy in Lansdowne!

Official Film of Record Store Day, “The Smart Studios Story,” Screens at Vinyl Revival

The Smart Studios Story, November 16th

The Smart Studios Story, November 16th

The Smart Studios Story,” a documentary about Midwest indie rock that is the official film of Record Store Day, is coming to Vinyl Revival, 35-37 N. Lansdowne Avenue, Lansdowne, on Wednesday, November 16th at 7:30 p.m. Director Wendy Schneider will attend the screening. Tickets are $10 and are available online at vinylrevivalrecords.com or at the door. This is a limited seating event so advance ticket purchase is recommended.

Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, L7, Death Cab For Cutie (among many others), have created music at Smart Studios, the legendary recording facility founded by Butch Vig and Steve Marker. Drawing on in-depth-interviews with musicians and producers, never-before-seen archival footage and a powerful soundtrack, “The Smart Studios Story” tells the story of the pivotal Midwest link to the global rise of Alternative Rock in the 1990’s and the unassuming Madison, Wisconsin recording studio at its center. The post-70’s explosion of independent music in America has many traceable roots, each with a compelling story. This is one of the most significant stories that has never been told until now.  Visit www.thesmartstudiosstory.com for more information.

Record Store Day 2016 Re-Cap

RSD2016flyerWow, we had a GREAT Record Store Day this year!  More and more people are coming to our store and we had a lot of what people were looking to get.  We’re thankful to everyone who came by to support and party with us!   We got lots of good feedback from customers who said they were happy to have a local record store to shop at again.  We’re glad that we can share our love of music and vinyl with other old school record fans as well as the younger collectors who are newly discovering the beauty of the format.

We still have a number of Record Store Day releases in stock and might have the title you’re looking to get so stop by and browse our inventory.  We also have some titles left from last year’s Record Store Day and Black Friday that we have reduced.

Here are some pictures from the day.  Special thanks to Charlie Gracie, Patricia King and Orlando Hadad from Minas for their special appearance on Record Store Day and Mayor Campuzano and Neumann University’s 98.5!

Countdown to Record Store Day 2016

Woo hoo!  We are just one month away from Record Store Day.  We are super excited about it and hope you are too!

Last week, the folks at Record Store Day announced “the list” of titles that will be available on April 16th.  You can take a look at the entire list here.  There are about 350 titles.  We want to please as many customers as possible, so, as Dawes would say, we ordered “a little bit of everything.” Many releases are limited editions and there are a lot of record stores participating in this special day so we may not get everything we ordered.

We hope that you’ll stop in our store on April 16th beginning at 10 a.m. to helps us celebrate independent record stores.  We are planning a few events including a Vinyl and CD signing with Brazilian jazz group, Minas, a book signing with rock and roll pioneer Charlie Gracie, with more events to be announced.  We’ll have complimentary light refreshments and beer and wine all day.  Check our Facebook page for event details as we’ll be adding more to it as we confirm things.  #RSD16
